Tips on How to Write the Perfect Resume

A resume is a summary of your personal, academic, and professional history. It contains all the information a future employer needs to know whether you are suitable for a position or not. This is your key in landing your dream job. As such, acquiring the skills on how to write your perfect resume is a must.

Remember that a perfect resume easily catches the attention of future employers. It tells the employer who you are, what you can do, and more importantly, what you can contribute to the company. Moreover, a resume is said to be perfect if it could make employers interview you.

Here are some tips on how to write that perfect resume:

1. Read the job description carefully. Then, put an objective in your resume that perfectly fits in the job you are applying for. Remember to make your resume appropriate with the position you are applying for.

2. Market your accomplishment. Remember that your resume should sell you. So make sure to enumerate your accomplishments that are, of course, relevant to the job.

3. Determine the requirements of the job and highlight what you have. Your resume should include your skills and achievements that are relevant to the job.

4. Market what you can do for the company. Your resume should highlight what you can do for the company based on what you have already achieved.

5. Make your resume brief and concise. Future employers do not read novel-type resumes. Try to relay everything you have in the shortest way possible.

6. Avoid long paragraphs. Bulleted items are easier to read.

7. Use an eye-friendly format. Do not make the eyes of your readers sore.

8. Maintain consistency. Do not use different fonts, layout, and format. The contents, verb tenses, sentence voice, and capitalization should be parallel.

9. Check your grammar and spelling. Grammatical errors and misspelled words will make future employers throw your resume into the trash bin.

10. Print your resume in a clean, plain, white paper.

After writing that perfect resume, write a perfect cover letter for it, using the aforementioned tips.
