School Business Processes Solutions

Your students might have gotten used to the old way of doing things, from falling in line to pay at the school cashier during enrolment, to waiting for the registrar to find school records in alphabetized drawers and cabinets.

Today, there are easier ways of doing school business processes, and it is mainly categorized under school business processes solutions (BPS).

One BPS is online enlistment and enrolment. The De La Salle University is the first university in the Philippines to offer this to students using the My.Lasalle account. After logging in, students can just click “Enroll in Courses” to find out the prescribed classes for the coming term. Provided the student is cleared for enrolment, they can already enroll in their classes.

Here is a list of BPS, just to give you an idea as to how a “computerized” school can help everyday life for students, teachers and school personnel.

Registration and enrolment - is particularly for registering and editing student information (basic profile, contact, academic background), adding or dropping subjects, and listing subjects to be enrolled in and the subsequent class card issuance.

Information management - this is basically the foundation of any computerized school as it involves the creation, retrieval, update and deletion of basic information. This can record information regarding each year level or department’s class information, room, subject, schedule, curricula, and teacher’s load. It can also have student registration and records, class schedule, official and permanent records, student evaluation.

Academics - for the management and reporting of grades and academic records; This is periodical and final grades can be accessed anytime, with ready-for-printing certification of grades.

Accounting and finance - for the financial records of enrollees and students; for easy assessment of fees, tuition payment and cashiering, issuing student account statements, student permits, management of school fee information, daily cash and transaction reports, payment details, student balances and scholarships.

Reports - can display academic achievers, list of students in each class, closed subjects, enrolment list with grades, enrolment statistics, classroom utilization and others.

Auxiliary - can help computerize the library with the library circulation and Open Public Access Catalogue System. The lending and returning of books can be tied to the student’s enrolment for the term. Auxiliary can also mean student affair’s disciplinary records, or intra messaging for users in the system.

BPS systems are usually web-based and platform independent. Even the layout can be edited with a template design interface. The main thing is that most records can be easily searched, generated, and printed out.

This can pave the way for a lot of information being readily available, eliminating the long lines and manual involvement in procuring files.
