Lesson plan calendar and templates

Planning your lessons is more difficult than actually delivering it because lesson plans are more than just lists of topics to tackle for a school year. Writing lesson plans entails serious thinking to be able to meet your learning objectives.

Lesson Plan Calendar

In writing your lesson plan, it is recommended that you make a lesson plan calendar to help know how much instructional time you have for a school year. Here is how you can make one:

  • Get a blank calendar and mark all of the vacation days with a big X. Use a pencil in doing your calendar because you would probably have to erase items over time.
  • Mark all the major examination periods and scheduled events that can interfere with your class and take note of the number of days you will lose due to these activities. Also subtract one day each month as allowance for unexpected events. Through this equation, you will know the total number of hours you have for your lessons.
  • Adjust your topics, activities, and pacing to the total number of instructional time you have.
  • As the school year progresses, re-adjust your lesson calendar in case there are events or holidays that can affect the number of your instructional time.

Lesson plan templates

After doing your lesson plan calendar, you may now start writing your lesson plan. To assist you in coming up with your own lesson plan structure, here are some templates you may refer to for ideas:
