Camarines Sur NHS places second at sustainable schools search

 

Principal Nely SB. Abad proudly carries the trophy that Camarines Sur National High School (NHS), a partner school of Smart Schools Program (SSP), received for placing second at the high school level during the 2009 National Search for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools held last November 19 at SM City North EDSA.  Abad received the award from officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).  Also in photo are (from left: )  SMART Administration and Materials Management Department Head Pancho Dino and Public Affairs Corporate Communications Senior Manager Salome Flores-Aldaba, CHED Commissioner William Medrano, DENR Undersecretaries Antonio Inocentes and Teresita Samson Castillo, Eugenia B. Pasa and Erwin V. delos Reyes of Camarines Sur NHS, Department of Education Senior Education Program Specialist Dr. Thelma M. Cruz and UP National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development Executive Director Dr. Merle Tan.

Another SSP partner school, Malabon National High School, topped the greenest school search at the high school level in the National Capital Region and competed against 14 other regional finalists for the top prize.  First place went to La Castellana NHS in La Castellana, Negros Occidental, followed by Camarines Sur NHS then Daniel R. Aguinaldo NHS in Matina, Davao del Sur. Malabon NHS officials led by Principal Dr. Rose G. Centeno (third from left) attended the awarding ceremony.
