SSP Website of the Month (November 2009) and Community Choice Awardee: Catanduanes National High School
“Pantas na kinikilala, pantas na magaling!”
This is the motto of Catanduanes National High School (CNHS), a school which aims to “provide opportunities for the development of knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that will prepare the youth for college education who can be competitive with global world of work.”
As part of its thrust in globalization and technology, CNHS teachers and students collaborated on developing their school website, Hosted by the Smart Schools Program, the CNHS website was developed and is being maintained by the school’s web team which is composed of CNHS teachers and students.
The website contains general information about the school and features the campus life, students’ achievements, and the school administration. Its content and impressive design and layout are what made the CNHS website stand out in the SSP Website of the Month competition.
Because of its Internet-surfer friendly characteristics, the CNHS website was selected as SSP Website of the Month for November.
The Website of the Month Competition is SSP website’s rewards and recognition program for the SSP-hosted websites. Nominated websites are evaluated based on the content, website design, involvement of teachers and students, and website maintenance.
A “Community Choice Award” is also given to the nominee with the most number of votes earned in the Smart Schools Online Poll. For November 2009, the CNHS website, which earned a total of 3 votes in the online poll conducted from October 20 to November 20, 2009, emerged as the favorite school website. Other nominated websites were: Kiamba NHS, Mt. Province General Comprehensive High School, and Muñoz NHS.
