SSP Website of the Month (December 2009) and Community Choice Awardee: General Santos City High School
With its Web 2.0-like appearance and elements, the General Santos City High School (GSCHS) Website stood out in last month’s SSP Website Competition and earned not only the “Website of the Month (December)” Award but also the Community Choice Award.
Hosted by the Smart Schools Program, the GSCHS website is the product of the collaboration of GSCHS teachers and students. Its web team is led by GSCHS ICT Coordinator Maria Theresa Pelones.
The site features interactive tools such as student forums, polls, and e-learning materials. The content of the site is also remarkable. It features a news cloud, and also contains up-to-date news about the school, the community, and latest educational articles. Visitors can also change the color of the page skin and the size of page fonts!
The SSP “Website of the Month” Competition is SSP website’s rewards and recognition program for the SSP-hosted websites. Nominated websites are evaluated based on the content, website design, involvement of teachers and students, and website maintenance.
A “Community Choice Award” is also given to the nominee with the most number of votes earned in the Smart Schools Online Poll. The GSCHS website earned a total of 2,142 votes in the online poll conducted from December 2, 2009 to January 3, 2009. Calamba Bayside NHS website got 2 votes; Cordillera Regional Science High School website, 10; Philippine High School for the Arts website, 3; and Santiago City NHS website, 746.
Congratulations to General Santos City High School, and to all the nominees for a job well done!/
