My father, my mentor
By Carl Patrick S. Tadeo
Student, Olongapo City National High School

My father, Dr. Roderick A. Tadeo, is my teacher, my friend, and my guardian angel rolled into one. He is my idol and I am so proud of him.

A man whose principles are built on determination, discipline, and respect, my dad is a loving father, a remarkable leader, and a devoted teacher. He always teaches me the value of hard work, patience, and obedience. He also shows me how to work harmoniously with other people. My father always tells me that good social relationships must be established so the goals of the majority, not just individual goals, will be attained.

In school, sometimes I get jealous because my father’s time and attention get divided among my classmates and me. An excellent teacher, my father really spends time with his students to help them cope with the lessons. He treats all his students, including me, fairly and does not show favoritism. In class, I am not his son and he is not my father, yet I can still feel his fatherly love. My classmates see him as their second father --- someone they highly respect , someone who will guide and mentor them.

My father sacrifices a lot to provide for our family, and to teach young students the proper values and lessons they need in order to have a brighter future. I am very proud that my father is a teacher and I am very blessed to be a teacher’s son.
